Open trenching is the traditional method for laying cable, and is sill the simplest and most effective solution where conditions permit. The trenching process involves initial site clearance, followed by excavation of the trench to the predetermined depth. Once cable has been laid, the trench is backfilled and amenities such as road surfaces, paving and vegetation are all reinstated. For Complete Cabling clients, the advantages of open trenching include lower cost, speed of installation, accuracy of the trench floor depth and the possibility of installing multiple cables simultaneously. The decision as to whether open trenching is the appropriate technique will depend on the prevailing above ground conditions, and in developed and sensitive environment it may be necessary to employ other methods.
